Some amateurs bought seeds from Popenko (they also managed to find them in the Happy Garden online store and from other collectors) and grew them in their greenhouses (and sometimes in the open field). The plant is indeterminate (not limited in growth), its height reaches 1.7 meters, strongly branched. Inflorescences are formed from the lowest branches and at intervals of 1-2 leaves to the very top. In each of them, 5-7 fruits are tied, which begin to ripen 85-95 days after full shoots appear. The fruits of the Black Pineapple are very large (up to 0.5-1 kg), flat-round, often irregular in shape. Their coloration is rather unusual - it is a combination of dark red, pink, yellow, purple and green colors. The flesh on the cut also looks unusual - it is mostly green with pink veins, but there are red and yellow blotches. Moreover, each fruit has its own unique coloring. But these unusual tomatoes are planted not only for their decorative qualities - their pulp has an exquisite sweet taste without sourness with citrus notes. The fruits are used only for fresh consumption and the preparation of vegetable salads. They are not suitable for canning, but they can be stored in the refrigerator for a long time.

Despite the unusualness of this tomato, its agricultural technology is quite simple and does not differ in any way from other, familiar varieties. Therefore, we will briefly dwell only on the important points to which attention should be paid.
For planting in an unheated film or polycarbonate greenhouse, you need to grow seedlings 60 days old. Since the seeds of this variety are quite rare and relatively expensive, the seedless method is usually not used. Provided that it is planted in the closed ground of the middle lane in the second half of April, it is worth starting sowing seeds already in the first half of February, given that it will take some more time for their germination.
The planting scheme should be such that the bushes are well lit and not thickened. It is better to allocate one row for this variety along the southern side of the greenhouse, placing plants on it with an interval of 50 cm. Since the shoots will have to be tied up, then even before planting it is worth worrying about the construction of suitable supports, which can be trellises or crossbars with hanging cords.

There is nothing unusual about them - everything is as usual. Begin watering 3-4 weeks after planting tomatoes in the ground. The only subtlety is not to overdo it. Excess moisture in the case of Black Pineapple, according to gardeners, leads to the fact that the taste of its fruits becomes sour. Therefore, they need to be watered abundantly, but rarely. An interval of 1-2 weeks will be optimal. And, of course, do not forget about mulching, which helps to retain moisture and reduce the need for loosening. But you can also use ordinary mineral fertilizers: urea or ammonium nitrate (20-30 g / m2) and potassium monophosphate (10-20 g / m2). Before use, they should be dissolved in water and applied simultaneously with watering.
Some gardeners recommend forming the Black Prince tomato bushes into three stems (but one or two can be used). To do this, leave two stepsons growing from the axils of the lower leaves (it is better to take from the 3rd and 4th, and remove the 1st and 2nd).
