Setcreasea purpurea, or Tradescantia pallida, is an ornamental plant and belongs to the genus Setcreasea, which comes from the Commelinaceae family. Distributed in areas of Eastern Mexico, namely, on the border of the Gulf of Mexico.
The perennial evergreen shrub has fleshy creeping stems that are about a meter long. The leaf blades sit in the next order and are hidden deep in the axils of the shoots. Wide leaves up to 10 cm long look lanceolate. Outside, the plates are painted in a green tone with a purple tint, from the inside the color becomes saturated, a short fleecy bloom prevails.
Budding continues from spring to late August. The culture blooms with small pinkish inflorescences, consisting of 3 petals. Flowers are collected in clusters of several pieces and cover the ends of the shoots.
In most cases, netcreasia is grown as an ampelous plant. The flower needs minimal care and develops without problems in fairly modest conditions.
Setcreasia purpurea cannot do without natural light for a long time. The lighting coming from the street should be bright. To prevent the direct sun from burning the leaves, the pot is placed under diffused light.
The lack of light leads to the fact that the internodes are shortened, and the leaf blades acquire a more intense color, a tone darker than the previous one. If there is no real possibility to keep the flower in a bright room, special phytolamps are installed next to the flowerpot, which serve as an additional source of illumination.
In addition, weak daylight can cause changes in leaf pigmentation and entail stretching of the shoots. In this case, inflorescences are practically not formed.
It's not just the length of daylight that matters when breeding netcreasia. The temperature in the room also affects the health of the flower. In winter, the flowerpots are transferred to a cool room, where the thermometer is kept at around 7-10 ° C. This approach will protect the crop from pulling out shoots and discoloration of the ground parts.
Netcreasia purple requires abundant watering. The soil in the pot is kept moist, but water stagnation at the bottom is avoided. Errors in watering lead to decay of the root system. As a result, the culture dies. Overdrying the substrate is also contraindicated, since the leaves and stems lose their elasticity and gradually dry out. The plant is watered with pre-settled water.
They try to maintain high humidity indoors. Spraying the flower is not recommended, because moisture drops stagnate on the fleecy layer of foliage. Soon, unattractive whitish spots are formed in these areas. To increase the level of humidity, expanded clay material or pebbles are poured onto the bottom of the pallet and water is added. Another way is to install a vessel filled with water next to the flowerpot, then the plant absorbs the necessary moisture from the free container.
For the winter period, purple mesh is placed away from heating appliances.
The main requirement for a substrate is a nutrient medium. The content of the components and the pH values do not have a particular effect on the growth of the culture. The soil mixture for planting is purchased in the store. This soil is versatile and suitable for growing many indoor plants. To improve the drainage properties of the soil, a baking powder is added, for example: vermiculite, sand or perlite. If you do not want to buy ready-made soil, you can collect it yourself. It is necessary to take the same amount of turf, compost and sand. The components are thoroughly mixed and a handful of charcoal is added.
A prerequisite is the presence of a good drainage layer at the bottom of the flowerpot, due to which it is possible to prevent waterlogging of the soil. The container is taken in regular sizes, where the height and width are equal to the length, or wider pots.
Fertilize the soil at least once 4 weeks. For these purposes, universal compositions of mineral fertilizers are suitable. Frequent feeding of cetcreasia causes rapid growth, elongation of stems and internodes. The appearance of the plant deteriorates.
The transplant of purple setcreasia is carried out only as needed, mainly in March-April. If the root system crawls out of the pot, this will be the first signal to start transplanting. Setcreasia tends to grow quickly. The stems stretch out, and the lower layer of leaves crumbles. It is more expedient to plant a new plant in the place of the old plant in a few years.
Pruning of the setcreasia is carried out regularly. The procedure is started immediately before the start of active growth of shoots. Old stems are cut almost to the end, leaving two- or three-centimeter shoots. Young shoots are periodically pinched to form a slender and beautiful bush.
Setcreasia purpurea successfully propagates using apical cuttings that take root in water or wet soil. The rooting process is fast. Then the cuttings that have taken root are planted in separate pots. Florists advise placing from 3 to 5 cuttings in one container so that the bush turns out to be more magnificent and attractive in the future.
Setcreasia is rarely attacked by pests, however, due to a violation of the conditions of detention, the risk of infection of the foliage by a spider mite increases. Sick flowers are treated with appropriate insecticidal preparations. The package contains instructions for use.
Home-grown bushes are unlikely to get sick. Often the problem is the drying out of the tips of the leaves. The reason is low humidity in the room and hot air circulating from heating devices.
123. Care, reproduction
The plant belongs to Commelin family (Commelinaceae).
The genus unites about 30 different species. In indoor culture, the genus is represented by three species: green netcreasia (S. viridis), striped netcreasia (S. striata) and purpurea mesh (S. purpurea)
Setcreasia looks great in composition with other ampelous or herbaceous plants. It is best to grow reticulum in a room greenhouse or greenhouse, as it does not tolerate low temperatures at all.
Setcreasia is a perennial evergreen herb. The stem is creeping or descending, rounded, light green, watery-succulent. In some species, it is covered with fine light hairs.
The leaf blades are rather large, elongated, with a pointed apex, thin. The surface color varies, depending on the species, from luscious green to purple. The edge of the leaf blade is ciliate. Leaves sit on the stem alternately.
The flowers of the netcreasia are small, inconspicuous, collected in small, rather dense inflorescences at the tops of the stems.
The plant needs a lot of sunlight. Setcreasia is shaded only at noon.
In summer, the air temperature should not fall below 18 ° C, in winter below 16 ° C. During the period of active growth, the plant is best taken out into fresh air, creating protection from drafts. Protect the mesh from sudden temperature changes.
It is watered abundantly in summer and more moderately in winter. In summer, the plant needs regular and abundant spraying with water at room temperature.
The transplant is carried out before the beginning of the period of active growth. A young plant is transplanted annually, an older one as needed.
Top dressing is carried out from mid-April to the end of September. To fertilize the soil, use half the usual rate of liquid complex flower mixtures. The compositions are applied to the soil once every 10 days.
Gemini is an airy, lightweight, most mobile zodiac sign. It is controlled by the mobile and changeable Mercury - the planet of the air element, which endowed the Gemini with climbing plants and plants with lush foliage. Gemini plants have rather small or narrow leaves. Belong to Gemini and "atmospheric" bromeliads, for example, tillandsia, which do not need soil or watering, feeding on moisture and dust of the atmosphere.
Asparagus: plumose, dense-bud, asparagus, Meyer ferns, ivy plumose palms: dates Canary and Robelena, Weddel coconut group of tradescantia: tradescantia, zebrina, callisia graceful, netcreasia purpurea, cyanotis Chlorophytumuchu.
These plants will primarily help people born under the sign of Gemini to improve their physical and mental health, cleanse the atmosphere in the house.
Gemini is a sign of friendship, friendly relations. Any plants of this sign can be at home as talismans of good relationships with friends. Gemini is also a sign of elementary education, so it is good to have its plants in schools and at home as talismans of successful studies and quick assimilation of information.
In the appearance and unpretentious nature of asparagus, Mercury is very bright. This light, mobile planet gave the plant lush greenery, the ability to reproduce easily and undemanding to the importance of air. Asparagus is very similar to a fern, but ferns have leaves, and what we think of as asparagus leaves are actually modified stems. The stem of any plant is ruled by Saturn - the planet of fortitude, strength of character, but if the stem has turned into leaves, it means that strict Saturn has united with the changeable Mercury. This combination gives the plant a fickle character and the ability to cleanse the atmosphere of the energy of thoughts, words and feelings of people with the same character. It is good to have asparagus pinnate in a house where people live or often are who say one thing and do another, who do not know how to keep their word and often change their position in life, beliefs and opinions. It is useful to have asparagus in houses where fidgets live, who constantly want to change something, at least move furniture, which, by their very presence, bring a bustle into the atmosphere of the house that interferes with concentration, collecting thoughts.
And it’s impossible to relax in such a house, because relaxation requires a calm atmosphere. Asparagus feathery absorbs the fussy energy of fidgets. Saturn and Mercury of this plant subtly affect the atmosphere of the house, making it light, fresh and calm.
If you are often in a hurry, if you have more things on your agenda than you can accomplish, if you are stuck in a rush, get feathery asparagus.
Having united, strict Saturn and changeable Mercury gave asparagus the ability to calm down the vanity, help to focus and go about their business even in the midst of noise and bustle. If a lot of people live in the house, if someone is constantly distracting you, get asparagus. Asparagus is useful both for those who want to learn to speak beautifully and shortly, “rarely, but accurately”, and for those who suffer from their difficult nature, conservative in their views and beliefs, the elderly and suffering from complexes in communicating with people. The severity of Saturn, the planet of trials and limitations, in asparagus is smoothed by light Mercury, therefore the plant relieves a difficult emotional state, helps to forget about complexes, puts a person in a light mood and facilitates communication.
Conservative Saturn and light Mercury endowed asparagus with another property - to alleviate the condition of a person with chronic diseases. Saturn governs the musculoskeletal system and skin, while Mercury helps maintain flexibility. The mere presence of asparagus in your home will preserve the bone of your body and improve the elasticity of your skin. The sign of Gemini, which owns asparagus in the human body, controls the lungs. Thanks to Saturn, asparagus has a strengthening effect on this organ, which means that this plant is useful for those who suffer from various lung diseases.
The nature of the dense-flowered asparagus is very similar to the character of its fellow - asparagus pinnate, because the leaves of this plant are also modified stems, which means the confluence of Saturn and Mercury. But unlike the pinnate asparagus, whose stems were straight and strong enough to stand upright, the dense-flowered asparagus has a drooping stem. They have a weak spirit, weak character, weak Saturn. The combination of a weak Saturn and the planet of thought and the word of Mercury gave the plant the ability to cleanse the atmosphere from the energy of thoughts and words of weak-minded people.
Dense-flowered asparagus is always useful when people talk a lot about difficulties in the house, when those living in the house feel insecure and are looking for moral support. Uncertainty, the need for emotional support is bad for the atmosphere. In a house where insecure, weak-willed people live, the atmosphere seems to have frozen in place, there is no or very little movement in it. In such houses, people experience a deteriorating memory, even the young develop senile forgetfulness. But asparagus absorbs the hazy clouds of emotional weakness in humans and keeps the atmosphere mobile.
If people with weak character live or often live in your house, get a dense-flowered asparagus. This plant will not allow weak-willed people to fill the atmosphere with the energy of weakness.
The weak, flexible Saturn could not endow the dense-flowered asparagus with the ability to strengthen the weak character of a person, but the airy Mercury of the plant gives rise to new thoughts in a person, helps to forget about old experiences and switch to new topics. If you find it difficult to forget about troubles, if unpleasant impressions linger in your soul for a long time, get asparagus. Under the subtle influence of this plant, you will remember funny stories that happened once, or remember that you promised someone to call or do something. Asparagus helps to forget about troubles, switching a person to other everyday topics.
The properties of this asparagus are the same as those of the cirrus, only slightly more pronounced. While feathery asparagus improves the flexibility of the body and the elasticity of the skin, the dense-flowered asparagus can affect the healing rate of bone fractures and any wounds on the skin.
This is one of the most capricious asparagus. Like all asparagus, the leaves of the asparagus are modified stems that combine Saturn and Mercury. But the earthy, Saturnian qualities prevail in the asparagus asparagus, because its “leaves” are rather large, and this endowed the plant with a demanding, capricious character. However, every cloud has a silver lining. It was the strong Saturn who gave the asparagus asparagus the ability to cleanse the atmosphere from the energy of thoughts and feelings that are heavy on the rise, lazy people who burden and thicken the atmosphere in the house, depriving it of mobility. Once in such an atmosphere, other people suddenly lose enthusiasm, get tired faster than usual, and experience bouts of drowsiness. But as soon as you put asparagus in such a room, the position will slowly but surely begin to change. The plant protects the atmosphere from the heavy, “cotton” energy of lazy people and creates an atmosphere of creation. In a room transformed by asparagus-like asparagus, any work will simply burn in the hands, creative people will not leave inspiration and neither guests nor hosts will be bored.
So, if there are people in your house who are too lazy even for themselves to go to the store or get up from the couch to answer a phone call, get asparagus asparagus.
With the earthly element of asparagus, manifested in the modification of the stems and the emphasized width of the leaves, its general strengthening property is associated. But Mercury, pronounced in the appearance of a plant, controls our speech, therefore asparagus asparagus gives strength to our words. This plant is good to have for those who have an uncertain, quiet voice, who are afraid to talk to their superiors or talk about certain topics. Asparagus asparagus will instill confidence in such people, which will make a quiet voice louder.
The earthly element will certainly endow plants with strengthening properties. Asparagus asparagus strengthens the lungs, an organ ruled by the sign of Gemini, and Mercury, which controls Gemini and manages the metabolic process, endowed this type of asparagus with the ability to stabilize the metabolic process in the human body.
The fern family is very large, but here we will only talk about ferns - the brightest representatives of the Gemini sign. In the large leaves of Gemini ferns, the air and earth elements combined. The air element lives in all plants of this sign, and the earthly element is present in those with rather large leaves. The boundless lightness of Gemini is restrained in the ferns by the earthly element. The fern has a balanced character and an excellent sense of proportion, therefore, for the normal growth of the house, it needs moderate watering, which does not allow the soil to dry out or waterlogged, and a moderate temperature, not higher than 22 and not lower than 10 degrees.
Possessing a sense of proportion, the fern clears the space from the energy of thoughts, words and feelings of people who all the time lack something, who do not know how to stop in time, who, being carried away by something, lose their heads. It is good to have a fern in those houses where maximalists live or are often found, that is, people prone to exaggeration who worry even when the problem is over. Fern is good even if people at home are too active, too lazy, too much concerned about some problem. Fern is useful always when we lose a sense of proportion, when we do not know how to balance our emotional state, thinking that this is our own business. But the lack of a sense of proportion in people, as it were, breaks the shell of atmospheric molecules, leading its energy to chaos. In such a house of people, objects seem to fall from their hands, here, while talking, it is easy to lose the thread of reasoning, it is difficult to observe any regime, to be accurate and consistent.
But the ferns will change everything. They will protect the shells of atmospheric molecules from rupture and protect its energy from chaos, planting the spirit of composure, organization and order in the house. Households will feel this order, and their guests will themselves become more organized, they will understand each other better.
Impact on emotional state
Airy-earthly, possessing a wonderful sense of proportion, the fern inspires a person with thoughts of self-restraint. Fern is useful for those who have many unfulfilled desires, who want a lot at once, who strive to achieve what they want as soon as possible. The fern seems to be asking the person: "Why do you need all this?" And a person begins to evaluate his desires, to understand what and why he needs, and often realizes that many of his desires are just a whim, a consequence of fashion. A person forgets about insignificant desires, throws them away and begins to actively pursue what is really important to him. Fern helps to concentrate on the main thing without wasting energy.
On the underside of the mature fern leaves, spores form that can be germinated like seeds. Spores are fern seeds, and they are also fruits. The seed and the fruit are the Moon and Venus, but in the fern they are connected to the leaves, to Mercury. The combination of three planets endowed the plant with the ability to connect feelings, emotions and thoughts in a person. Thoughts are ruled by Mercury, emotions and feelings are ruled by the Moon and Venus. Under the subtle influence of this plant, those who preferred to worry about the problem begin to think, and those who are used to approaching questions rationally wake up feelings. The fern will give a more complete perception of life for both emotional, impressionable, and rational people who perceive the world with their minds. Venus is the planet of fertility, having united with Mercury, it gives the fern the power to help a person not just think, but think. It is good to have a fern for those who are engaged in intellectual activity, who have to think a lot. Thanks to the fern, a person, thinking, finds solutions faster. In addition, the fern makes our thoughts more material, and we, having thought about the desired, will give the thought the opportunity to come true. Mercury is responsible not only for thoughts, but also for speech, therefore the fern gives a person the ability to speak with the help of the word - “said and became”.
The moon, connected with Mercury in the leaves of the fern and connected with the soul, with the subtle world of man, gave the fern the ability to refine thoughts and words. If rude, tactless people live in your house, the rules of good manners are not observed, get a fern - and there will be less rudeness in the speeches of your household, gentle notes will appear in their intonations, tactless words will disappear from speech, and they themselves will become softer, more condescending, sharpness will disappear.
The sign of Gemini in the human body controls the lungs, bronchi, trachea, shoulders, arms, fingers, and the ferns, thanks to the earthly element, have an equal character and therefore, by their mere presence in the house, they are able to normalize the work of body parts and organs controlled by Gemini.
Most ivies are fairly independent plants. Although their flexible stem does not allow you to stay straight, they have aerial sucker roots, with the help of which ivy climbs along any vertical planes. Ivy is not a sissy, it is quite cold-resistant and can grow in winter in unheated rooms. Due to its strong, hardy, independent character, ivy is able to cleanse the atmosphere of the house from the energy of thoughts, words and emotions of weak, insecure, emotionally dependent people. If you have “grown-up children” living or often in your house - those who are afraid to even take a step on their own, who notify everyone about any of their actions, looking for advice, support, help - get ivy.
Dependent, insecure people fill the atmosphere of the house with energy clots, similar to an egg that is sharp on one side. Such clots distract households from their thoughts and activities, can cause obsessive states and sleep disorders. But ivy neutralizes the effect of egg-like clots, saving all residents of the house from unpleasant consequences.
Curly ivy is perhaps one of the brightest representatives of the airy Gemini. Due to the air element pronounced in the flexible stems, ivy greatly facilitates the emotional state. It is good to have him by your side when your soul is hard, when you are in emotional dependence, when you want to overcome your complexes, quit smoking, drinking or starving.
The main effect of ivy on both emotional and physical health is relief. Ivy relieves any diseases associated with the lungs, bronchi, hand bones. Ivy is useful to have at home for those who suffer from intercostal neuralgia, who experience heaviness in the chest, who have broken ribs.
Both in the date palms and in the coconut air, Gemini is taken under the control of the earthly element. Palm trees keep their posture - this earthly element gives them a stable upright position. We can say that palm trees never lose heart, they have a strong character and have the ability to cleanse space of the energy of pessimism and melancholy. If whiners, melancholic, pessimists, people who do not understand the meaning of their life and work, who will not take up any business, if they are not convinced that it is necessary, live in your house or often are, get a date or coconut tree.
Pessimists, in whose souls enthusiasm flares up extremely rarely, bring a dull, sad mood to the energy of the space, so many around them in broad daylight will suddenly want to sleep and the work of physical organs may slow down. But both date and coconut palms will absorb the emanations of sadness and keep the energy of the atmosphere in a vigorous state. If there are several such palms in the house, the household will feel vigorous from early morning until late at night. The very atmosphere will energize people.
Traditionally, a palm tree is considered a plant for the living room, hall. Even if the size of your bedroom allows you to place one or two palm trees in it, it is better not to do this, because the palm tree is designed to create a cheerful mood. You can, for example, put a palm tree next to the phone if you often have to talk to pessimists.
The earthly element organizes the frivolous, restless air, gives it shape. Date and coconut palms are useful to have at home for unassembled people, those who are extremely frivolous about many phenomena of life, whose favorite expression is “trifles, a matter of everyday life,” who, because of their disorganization, waste a lot of time. Under the subtle influence of these plants, a person becomes more collected, while maintaining lightness and even restlessness, but, transformed by palm trees, these qualities will become more fruitful.
Date and coconut palms are also very useful for those who do not finish what they have begun, who say more than they do. Air lives in the appearance of these palms, mainly in their narrow leaves. He gives people talkativeness, an abundance of thoughts and “extraordinary lightness in thoughts,” so an airy person does not always have the mood to finish what he started. And here the earthly element comes to the rescue, supporting the posture of the palm trees. The earth does not tolerate unfinished work, does not tolerate unnecessary chatter. Thanks to the earthly element, palm trees inspire perseverance and patience in a person, as a result, there are fewer unfinished business in a person's life.
The earthly element seemed to have taken the air of palm trees into a frame. Date and coconut palms, only being present in the house, protect households from the growth of diseases associated with organs and parts of the body, which are controlled by the sign of Gemini (lungs, bronchi, hands). These palms are good to plant at home if someone in the household has problems with the lungs or bronchi. If a person suffers from bronchitis, the palm tree will prevent bronchitis from becoming chronic, will prevent rheumatic proliferation of the bone tissue of the joints of the fingers, and will restrain the growth of fat deposits from the collarbone to the wrist.
In the group of tradescantia, there are several attractive plants with hanging stems, differing primarily in the color of the leaves, which completely depends on the lighting, from the Sun. Setcreasia purpurea - one of the representatives of the group of tradescantia - is really purple only in a well-lit place. In the shade, it, like virtually all plants from the tradescantia group, becomes monochromatic, green. All Tradescantia listed at the beginning of the chapter belong to the air Gemini, ruled by Mercury, the planet closest to the Sun. Mercury is an airy planet, and the Sun is fire. The air becomes warm and light with the participation of the fiery element, which is why Mercury follows the Sun on its heels. Mercury is highly dependent on the Sun, and this dependence is manifested in the leaves of tradescantia. The sun in astrology is a planet of great joy, strong, real feelings. Those who love the light and Sun of Tradescantia cleanse the atmosphere in our homes from the energy of thoughts, words and feelings of people who do not tolerate solar joy, who feel bad from other people's successes and achievements, from the fact that someone is good.
If envious people live or are often in your house, start a tradescantia. All plants from this group neutralize the decomposing effect of envious people on the energy of the atmosphere at home. Tradescantia do not allow the energy of envy to merge with the atmosphere and cause unexpected sharp pains in households and an influx of bad mood.
Solar Tradescantia brings a feeling of joy to a person, and the Gemini ruler Mercury gives his light, cheerful character. Tradescantia develops a sense of humor in a person, helps to face difficulties with a smile and to do any job with fun. If many life circumstances oppress you, if you have forgotten the last time you laughed, plant Tradescantia at home.
Thanks to the hot Sun, Tradescantia has a warming effect on the body. The sign Gemini, which controls Tradescantia, is in charge of the lungs, bronchi, and hands of a person. It is useful to have Tradescantia in houses, the inhabitants of which have problems with the lungs, bronchi or hands, radioscantia has a warming effect on the organs and parts of the body controlled by Gemini, and, therefore, protects from pneumonia, from bronchitis, from many neuralgias.
For a long time I have been practicing planting unpretentious house plants in the open ground of the garden for the summer.
For example, pelargonium grows well in our garden in summer, which many growers usually call "geranium". Pelargonium blooms in the open field almost continuously, it is not afraid of the hot sun. It turned out that it is easy to cut by cutting, when planting cuttings directly into the ground of the garden.
This year the Pelargonium bushes have grown very lush, and I decided to "comb" them by breaking a few branches. I stuck the cut cuttings right into the garden "where the eye looked," and watered them. When planting a stalk of pelargonium for rooting, it is necessary to leave two or three leaves on it, and remove the rest.
As a result, after about three weeks I received new young plants.
This successful garden experiment inspired me. In September, I took two cuttings from all my geraniums, planted three varieties of pelargonium in one flower pot.
I watched the cuttings in the process of rooting, watered them in time so as not to dry out the earthen lump - this is one of the conditions for rooting the cuttings of pelargonium.
When the planted cuttings took root, new leaves appeared, and soon the bushes began to grow. So I got a lot of compact plants in the fall for preservation in winter in indoor conditions, with the prospect of further growing in the garden.
I took two cuttings from each plant to play it safe: suddenly something goes wrong with one of them. However, with the rooting of the cuttings, everything turned out fine for me. And why I planted three varieties in a pot is to save space. After all, my main task now, in the fall, is to preserve the planting material of pelargonium until the next gardening season. Then they will return to the garden again for the summer.
Young bushes look neat, and there is enough space for them, and they do not get sick after transplantation, because originally grow here.
It must be remembered that you need to cut geraniums only by heat. Before freezing, cut cuttings turn black, die even in warmth.
And now my pink geranium has bloomed now, in November, already at home.
Of course, pelargonium is a beautiful plant, no doubt, but not everywhere it belongs.
Japanese quince are inclined arcuate branches, beautiful at the time of flowering, dense crown and fragrant fruits. It is the trees and shrubs that make our summer cottage garden. If your site is located closer to the North Pole than you need, but you passionately want to have cultivated fruits of a tree, and to embellish the landscape design, then I advise you to plant a shrub in your country house that can replace it - Japanese quince.
Despite the sour taste of quince, amazing jellies, jam with walnuts, compote, marshmallow and baked homemade preparations for the winter are obtained from it. Let's not forget about the content of monosugar, vitamins and biologically active substances in fruits. In medicine, quince leaves are also used.
