Blueberry video. Today we will tell you about a rare and relatively new crop in gardening - American blueberry. Why is this plant called tall, because in comparison with our blueberries, which everyone saw in the forest, these are quite large bushes. At home, this blueberry grows up to 2 m, I have not seen more than 1.5 m in our country. The bushes are very beautiful, retain juicy green foliage all summer, become bright bright red in autumn, this is just a decoration of the site.
The main thing for the sake of which we grow blueberries is the berries: they are magnificent, large, which is why they are called tall large-fruited blueberries. This bush is 3 years old, the harvest is already ripening, it is mainly concentrated below, because these branches were more covered with snow, and what was higher was above the snow, there was a huge branch, it froze, I cut it off and new ones went gains. I hope that this year I will be able to save this branch, I will try to bend it, and the harvest will be on these branches as well. Flower buds are laid on the shoots of last year, now the shoots will ripen, and I will try to bend them, then I will have a crop next year and them too.
Another blueberry is growing next to me, the berries on it are smaller, but the winter hardiness of this plant is higher. The plant is obtained from seeds, I purchased them in our botanical garden, the Nizhny Novgorod Botanical Garden, they are grown here specially from seeds. The branches are completely under the snow, nothing has ever frozen. Here the second bush is the same, the berries ripen are very tasty, somewhat reminiscent of our blueberries. These berries are rarely found in anyone.
Seedlings of tall American blueberries are already sold at garden exhibitions, they can be purchased in the botanical garden now, they are also sold in stores, large garden centers in small nondescript bushes, you just need to know what you are buying. Look at the labels because they don't get any attention at all. In autumn, they are often sold with loose leaves, because once you dry an earthen lump, it will quickly drop the leaves, it's not scary, the leaves grow back again. Seedlings can be purchased at exhibitions, nurseries, botanical gardens.
Next, you need to say about the planting of blueberries. Here, bells have grown by themselves, and so special soil has been prepared here. The soil here is peat, because blueberries are a heather crop, and all heather crops need an acidic substrate. The sour substrate is prepared from high-moor red peat and coniferous litter. This is the easiest mixture you can make on your own. We dug all this in the forest, there is a swamp about five kilometers from us. Why is it “red” - it has such a brown color, when you dig, it gets such red, not rotted woody remnants of a red color, this suggests that the substrate has an acidic reaction.
The peat that is sold in stores, as a rule, has a neutral reaction and is poorly suited for heather crops. This high-moor living peat has a lot of non-rotted organic matter, it has an acidic reaction. Acidifies this substrate and coniferous litter. You come to a pine forest, rake off the driest pine needles, take a loose litter, it is always black and wet. You mix these components in equal amounts.
In the literature, other components may be offered: grain soil, oak soil, which also has an acidic reaction, but this is all problematic, and grain soil must be specially prepared, but such components are not difficult to prepare, practice shows that I have several years these heathers are growing, blueberries are growing for the 4th year, they have wintered for three winters and they feel wonderful. If you plant in ordinary garden soil, then these plants simply wither, do not grow, the leaves are dull, the growth is small, you will not wait for any blossoms and berries. Therefore, first of all, you need to prepare a good soil.
Mix the substrate in equal amounts. This plant will grow here for many years, it will grow up to 1.5 m in height and the bush will be wide, I even have to remove these plants so that the blueberries grow well. Therefore, this must be done in large quantities, a hole must be dug 3-4 times more than an earthen lump and filled with such an earthen mixture.
It is recommended to protect the pit along the edges with something: old slate, roofing felt or sheets of iron, so that the garden soil, when there was precipitation, does not fill the pit with peat and coniferous litter. Stir, break the lumps of peat, it turns out a fairly homogeneous substrate. Do not be afraid that peat is in layers, over time it dissolves well, decomposes, and when I loosen it already, loose earth is obtained. I mixed and put this earth into the planting pit.
The hole was filled, be sure to compact it with your hands, pour it well so that the whole loose mixture is compacted, and then plant your blueberries. Do not deepen the root collar so that it is at ground level. They planted it, shed it well, and then again mulled everything with this substrate. If you do this preparation, the blueberries will grow wonderfully and produce wonderful waxy berries.
What else I want to say about it: we have wintered blueberries for three winters, did not notice any pests on it, are not affected by any diseases, and in the fall it is beautiful, with red leaves, and will greatly diversify your berry assortment.
I also suggest that you familiarize yourself with the information on how to properly fertilize blueberries - watch.

Blueberries Bluecrop is a popular berry that grows on tall shrubs in cold climates. The characteristic gray brushes look good on bushes in summer. Blueberries are widely used in the food industry and in the kitchens of caring housewives for desserts. Moreover, it is valuable for its medicinal properties.
In order for the spring season to start favorably and the garlic to grow out of the ground, the seed should be correctly selected. However, not everything is so simple, long before planting, the teeth should be carefully looked after and properly stored. These two points are essential for garlic to grow large and healthy.
Store teeth or unassembled heads in a cool, dry place. The room temperature should not exceed +7 ° C and the relative humidity should be zero. You can store the seed at a temperature of about 15-17 ° C, but in this case, one and a half months before planting, it must be placed in a cool environment with a temperature of -3 ° C to + 2 ° C. This will help awaken vegetative processes, bring the cloves of garlic to a state of turgor and help them form a developed root system.
The day before planting the garlic in the garden, it is necessary to bring the cloves into a room with room temperature and disinfect. For this, a light pink solution of potassium permanganate, a solution of copper sulfate or ash liquor is used. In the case of the first two solutions, the cloves need to be soaked for a day, but you can keep them in ash liquor only for 2 hours. You can rinse the inoculum in a solution of the drug (optional) "Fundazol", "Epin". This treatment also stimulates the growth of the garlic.
To get a bountiful harvest, you only need to plant healthy, large cloves. In spring garlic, it is better to choose the cloves from the outer circle, since they are larger than the central ones and are better protected by the husk. Examine each tooth carefully for mold, rot, dents, wormholes. Garlic is planted only with healthy, undamaged seeds. Caring for future bulbs at the stage of preparation for planting also consists in peeling off the husk and separating the "bottom" of each clove, so as not to hinder the emergence and development of roots.
No significant shortcomings have been identified. The thickening of the crown is considered a small disadvantage. without proper shaping.
Tall tree. Without proper trimming and shaping can reach heights of 5-6 m and cause inconvenience in leaving. Plus, shade other crops.
The growth of apple trees every year is not very large. The average is about 10 - 15 cm.
Subject to the rules of care and formation of the apple tree bears fruit annually... The difference may be in the small amount of yield. If you do not thin out the ovaries or peduncles, fruiting is usually in a year.
You can learn more about the frequency in the fruiting of an apple tree from this video:
At the amateur level, the yield of one plant is 150 kg. With industrial cultivation 100 c / ha.

It is important to remember that in central Russia, planting apricot seedlings should be carried out in the spring, and in the southern regions, plants are allowed to be planted not only in spring, but also in autumn.
Charlie forms large clusters, abundantly strewn with berries
Charlie grapes in many respects occupy a leading position among the varieties of medium ripening. Summarizing its merits, the list of key indicators includes the following:
There are practically no flaws in the variety. One can distinguish only a peculiar tart taste with the aroma of nightshade. However, this phenomenon disappears when the berries are fully ripe.
The tasty, vitamin-rich blackberry was previously a rare berry found only in the forest. Thanks to the labors of breeders, the shrub can be planted in the garden. One of the best species is Duke blueberry. The plant is tall, famous for its amazing productivity, resistance to low temperatures. In order to safely grow a bush, you need to familiarize yourself with all the features of planting technology, care, reproduction.
The tall shrub has a medium early ripening period and allows you to get a decent harvest, as a rule, the first blueberries can be consumed in the second year after planting. Blackberry has a fibrous rhizome, forms up to 5 shoots per season. The height and circumference is about 2 meters. The bushes are erect, skeletal, in the sun they acquire a brown color.
There are usually few branches, due to which the fruits are well warmed up by ultraviolet rays. They are thin, with a bend, as a rule, as the bush grows, it becomes quite thick. Leaves are oval, up to 8 centimeters long, 4 centimeters wide, with short cuttings.
In accordance with the description of Duke blueberries, in the fall they acquire a red tint, are collected in a brush up to 10 pieces with the shape of a bell 1 centimeter wide. Blueberries need insect pollination to ensure a decent harvest. The procedure increases the size of the berries, stimulates their rapid ripening and guarantees the symmetrical shape of the fruit.
Blueberries are large, rounded, 20 * 12 millimeters in size, not uniform. Weight reaches 2 grams. The skin is bluish, with a bluish tinge, smooth. There are many seeds in it, the taste is sweet with a piquant astringency. According to experienced gardeners, the Duke blueberry variety is an economical plant.
The Duke blueberry variety was first bred by breeding in America around the end of the 20th century. And by the early 80s, the berry had become available to most gardeners. In nature, blueberry fruits appear after 15 years, and garden species yield yields in the second year.
The berry assumes a number of advantages and disadvantages that must be read before planting.
The bush is grown without problems in the northern regions of the countries of the former Soviet Union, where the temperature drops to -40 degrees. Blueberries also thrive in mid-latitudes. They love moisture, require a lot of water to get the entire root system wet.
The bush is planted in areas illuminated and warmed by the sun's rays. It also takes root in partial shade conditions, but in low light the fruits will not be so sweet. In the shade, the variety will grow, but not yield, since it needs enough light to form.It is advisable to plant bushes along the fence. Blackberries should not be planted in the area where vegetables are grown. Areas where grass crops have grown for many years and where organic fertilizers have not been used are best suited.
Light sandy, sandy loam, acidic soils are suitable for this blueberry variety. The roots are located in the surface layer 20 centimeters deep. It is worth choosing a place where groundwater passes at a distance of 60 centimeters from the ground.
2-3 year old seedlings are best suited for growing. You need to buy blueberry seedlings only in the market or specialized stores, where strict control is carried out and professional recommendations can be obtained. Before purchasing, carefully examine the seedlings. It should be like this:
The planting material is sold in peat tanks. It is undesirable to buy it with open roots, they may not take root.
It is advisable to plant blueberries in spring or September. In November, it is better to keep the seedlings in containers, postpone planting work in the spring, so that the seedlings have time to take root. The measures should be carried out after measuring the pH of the soil in the planned rows and between them. Monitor the indicator regularly.
Shoots are planted in this way:
Place the rows from north to south.
Shrubs will bear fruit abundantly if you provide them with comfortable conditions. It is necessary to provide a sufficient amount of watering, dressing, timely cut and prepare for wintering. In addition, it is required to loosen the ground in time, weed between the beds, and remove weeds.
Water the plants with low acidity water. The soil should be soaked before the root system occurs. For large plantations, drip irrigation is optimal - they are installed at a distance of 20-25 centimeters. Excessive moisture is fraught with lack of air - the roots suffer, are exposed to fungal attacks.
It is advisable to feed the plant at the beginning of the growing season by 50%, in 2 doses before flowering and during the setting.
Do not apply nitrogen after fruiting - this increases the level of shoot growth, decreases winter hardiness.
The bushes are pruned in the first 3 years. When the plant is spreading, formative pruning can be done.
It should be borne in mind that too zealous pruning is dangerous by reducing the number of fruits.
In winters with little snow, young bushes can freeze slightly. It is advisable to mulch them in late or mid-autumn. Shelter is done in this way:
From mid-March - remove the insulation, cut off the frozen branches.
With proper care and planting, the plant is less likely to be affected by pests. To destroy fungal pathologies, fungicide treatment is used in early spring.
Blueberry bushes in nurseries propagate by seed, but such seedlings yield a harvest after 8 years. The most convenient way is grafting and the layering method. The berry is planted on the site after the formation of the root system in 2-3 years.
Collect and store blueberries manually or mechanically. To keep the fruit fresh for 2 weeks, it is important not to damage the thin skin. To preserve the crop for a long time, it can be dried, frozen and processed for winter harvesting. Blueberry jam increases the protective properties of the body, enriches it with nutrients and warms in the cold.
